Description Arne Gogala 2020-12-21 14:27:05 UTC
Description of problem:
Currently the "Using MySQL or PostgreSQL for the Hive Metastore" section from the OpenShift Metering documentation [1] does not outline specific database releases known to work for the Hive metastore.

As there are two Bugzillas regarding this issue [2], [3], this seems to be well known but customers are not aware and will most likely pick more recent databases causing issues.

[3] - https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1838845

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
4.5, 4.6

How reproducible:
Try to use recent PostgreSQL or MySQL 8 as database backend for Hive metastore

Actual results:
creation of reports fails with the following error message:

failed to validate ReportQuery dependencies namespace-memory-request: ReportQueryDependencyValidationError: uninitialized
ReportDataSource dependencies: pod-memory-request-raw, pod-request-memory-bytes

Expected results:
Documentation should outline which exact database is currently working
