Description Ben Beasley 2021-03-11 13:46:14 UTC
Description of problem:

The python-descartes package is needed to build the python-shapely HTML documentation.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): N/A

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. fedpkg co python-shapely
2. fedpkg prep
3. grep -FrnI descartes Shapely-*/

Actual results:

No python3-descartes package in EPEL8.

Expected results:

Some python3-descartes package in EPEL8.

Additional info:

I know there is a FTBFS bug, https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1907389, and you have stated your intent to retire the package due to dead upstream.

For now, though, shapely still uses it in the documentation, and an EPEL8 build would be useful in spite of all that.

Such a build would have to wait until a bootstrapped version of python-shapely (built without descartes) reaches stable, since descartes requires shapely. I will add a link to the relevant Bodhi update.

Here is the initial version of python-shapely in EPEL8: https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-EPEL-2021-07b031f188

Comment 2 Elliott Sales de Andrade 2021-03-26 00:35:38 UTC
I guess if you want to build it there, you can, but I don't have any plans to do any EPEL things.
