It looks like the extension is harded coded to the lightbackground version of the logo. This version was created for the very light Fedora 26 wallpaper:

However the dark version of the file is a better default as pretty much ever other wallpaper we've ever had is better suited for that one.

It looks like the default logo file from fedora-logos is set in usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/org.fedorahosted.background-logo-extension.gschema.xml 

This should correct the issue:

OK this is the only change we need for F34:

Should show up in background-logo-extension-40.rc (if released) or background-logo-extension-40.0 otherwise.
