Description Timothée Ravier 2021-10-15 16:19:47 UTC
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #1988459 +++

See https://github.com/coreos/fedora-coreos-tracker/issues/913
This came from https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/kexec-tools/c/646364193597401a55eb2485ef7840bb5eef7d88

Basically the interaction with kexec needs to be rpm-ostree specific on those systems. This seems related to https://github.com/coreos/rpm-ostree/issues/2894

You could downgrade it to a Recommends:, or simply rely on the fact that `grubby` is part of the default installs for systems that use traditional `yum` too.

This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 35 development cycle.
Changing version to 35.

hey @kasong any feedback here on the appropriate path forward?

--- Additional comment from Kairui Song on 2021-08-18 14:28:41 UTC ---

I think downgrade it to a Recommends: should be a good idea, will release a new version to fix it.

Thank you!

This was accepted as a Prioritized Bug in today's meeting: https://meetbot.fedoraproject.org/fedora-meeting-1/2021/fedora-meeting-1.2021-08-25-15.00.html

--- Additional comment from Dusty Mabe on 2021-08-25 17:20:12 UTC ---

Note this should be fixed now with the latest updates in f35 and rawhide.

Colin, both updates went stable - can you confirm this is fixed so we can close it? Thanks!

--- Additional comment from Dusty Mabe on 2021-08-26 19:44:07 UTC ---

We fast tracked them in our branched and rawhide streams. I can confirm this is fixed

Comment 3 Timothée Ravier 2021-10-18 09:48:51 UTC
Note that I have already made the PR with the change needed in https://gitlab.com/redhat/centos-stream/rpms/kexec-tools/-/merge_requests/45

Comment 7 Timothée Ravier 2021-10-26 08:53:12 UTC
Please note that this is not only for RHEL 9 but also for CentOS Stream 9. I've already backported the change in https://gitlab.com/redhat/centos-stream/rpms/kexec-tools/-/merge_requests/45 which is waiting for review.
