Description Mark 2006-08-30 13:03:55 UTC
Description of problem:
python crashes when running the PyQt example widgets.py

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
python-2.4.3-8.FC5.x86_64.rpm
qt-3.3.6-0.4.fc5.x86_64.rpm
PyQt-3.15-1.2.2.x86_64.rpm
sip-4.3.1-1.2.1.x86_64.rpm

How reproducible:
every time

Steps to Reproduce:
1. widgets.py
2.
3.

Actual results:
core dump of python

Expected results:
no core dump

Additional info:
I first encountered this problem when running a different application that uses
PyQt. At first I thought it was a problem caused when I installed numpy, but
then I tried the PyQt examples. All of the examples work (or appear to work)
correctly except widgets.py.

I have wondered if the PyQt and sip from the core distribution may not be
compatible with the updated qt distribution. I have tried reverting to the core
distribution of python (and qt?, I can't remember) but the results were the
same. I have tried debugging, but have been unable to get very far. It is
possible that my python installation is goobered because of many module
installations (and uninstalls). It is also possible that a 32 bit library
problem has crept in, but I have not detected one.

I have included a backtrace of the core dump for reference.
