Description Lukas Ruzicka 2022-07-26 11:07:47 UTC
Description of problem:

Making a screencast with Gnome Screenshot produces a video that appears to have a correct length, but it only plays for a moment and then it gets stuck.

When playing the video, VLC reports:

Comment 1 Fedora Blocker Bugs Application 2022-07-26 11:09:21 UTC
Proposed as a Blocker for 37-final by Fedora user lruzicka using the blocker tracking app because:

Basic functionality is broken. Proposing a Final blocker.

Comment 2 Kamil Páral 2022-07-27 08:10:45 UTC
This is not a bug in gnome-screenshot, but in the integrated video recording functionality in gnome-shell (which you trigger by pressing PrintScreen). Reassigning.

Comment 3 Ben Cotton 2022-08-09 13:23:05 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora Linux 37 development cycle.
Changing version to 37.

Comment 4 Geoffrey Marr 2022-08-22 21:24:42 UTC
Discussed during the 2022-08-22 blocker review meeting: [0]

The decision to classify this bug as an "AcceptedBlocker (Beta)" was made as it violates the following criterion:

"All elements of the default panel (or equivalent) configuration in all release-blocking desktops must function correctly in typical use", on the basis it shows an icon in the panel when you trigger a recording.

Comment 5 Tomas Popela 2022-09-05 08:13:23 UTC
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/merge_requests/2436 got merged, so this should be fixed (at least upstream for now)

I've tested it just a in VM so far, but with gnome-shell-43~rc-2.fc37.x86_64 the screen recording seems to work perfectly, no issues.
