Hello,

Please note that this comment was generated automatically. If you feel that this output has mistakes, please contact me via email (mhroncok).

Your package (gnome-subtitles) Fails To Install in Fedora 37:

can't install gnome-subtitles:
  - nothing provides mono(cairo-sharp) = 1.10.0.0 needed by gnome-subtitles-1.7.2-3.fc37.x86_64

If you know about this problem and are planning on fixing it, please acknowledge so by setting the bug status to ASSIGNED. If you don't have time to maintain this package, consider orphaning it, so maintainers of dependent packages realize the problem.

If you don't react accordingly to the policy for FTBFS/FTI bugs (https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Fails_to_build_from_source_Fails_to_install/), your package may be orphaned in 8+ weeks.

P.S. The data was generated solely from koji buildroot, so it might be newer than the latest compose or the content on mirrors. To reproduce, use the koji/local repo only, e.g. in mock:

    $ mock -r fedora-37-x86_64 --config-opts mirrored=False install gnome-subtitles

P.P.S. If this bug has been reported in the middle of upgrading multiple dependent packages, please consider using side tags: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Updates_Policy/#updating-inter-dependent-packages

Thanks!

This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora Linux 37 development cycle.
Changing version to 37.

I could not update gbrainy and gtk-sharp3 until I removed gnome-subtitles because of this dnf error.

Problem 15: problem with installed package gnome-subtitles-1.7.2-3.fc37.x86_64
  - package gnome-subtitles-1.7.2-3.fc37.x86_64 requires mono(cairo-sharp) = 1.10.0.0, but none of the providers can be installed
  - cannot install both gtk-sharp3-3.22.2-2.20220808git3.22.2.fc37.x86_64 and gtk-sharp3-2.99.3-34.fc37.x86_64
  - gtk-sharp3-3.22.2-2.20220808git3.22.2.fc37.i686 has inferior architecture
  - package gbrainy-1:2.4.4-3.fc37.x86_64 requires mono(cairo-sharp) = 3.0.0.0, but none of the providers can be installed
  - cannot install the best update candidate for package gbrainy-1:2.4.4-2.fc37.x86_64

Is this saying that mono (cairo-sharp) needs to be rebuilt with gtk-sharp3?

Comment 3 Filipe Rosset 2022-08-29 21:27:21 UTC
hi guys,

I'm trying to upgrade gnome-subtitles from 1.7.2 to 1.8, but I'm stuck with a meson build system problem:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-subtitles/-/issues/199

The main issue is that I don't want to build the bundled libs (gtk-sharp) and use the system one, but still not able to ignore the bundled libs for now.

meson.build:17:0: ERROR: Automatic wrap-based subproject downloading is disabled

Comment 4 Julian Sikorski 2022-08-30 06:37:23 UTC
I tried updating to 1.8 but couldn't get it to work. I was not able to build gst-sharp using system gtk-sharp:
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/gstreamer/gstreamer/-/issues/1375
