Description dolphin6k 2022-08-18 07:29:45 UTC
Description of problem:

Current build (0.9.28 sdl2) does not use SDL2_Pango which causes a problem that the application does not render UI texts properly in many languages environments.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

  tuxpaint-0.9.28-2.fc37

How reproducible:

  Always

Additional info:

SDL2_Pango is maintained by Mark K. Kim on the following github repo.

  https://github.com/markuskimius/SDL2_Pango

For compiling tuxpaint-0.9.28-sdl2 with above SDL2_Pango, it might be neccessary to add 'CFLAGS=-I/usr/include/freetype2' as a parameter for 'make'.

Applying following patch would be better than workaround I mentioned above.

Comment 3 dolphin6k 2022-08-20 23:05:41 UTC
I tested the src.rpm on fedora36.

It works fine with tuxpaint-0.9.28-sdl2.

Only one comment is that autoconf, automake and libtool are not necessarily required to build it.
