Description Lukas Javorsky 2022-09-20 12:54:57 UTC
Pcre has been deprecated since Fedora 38.
Please consider porting to the new pcre2 version.

Fedora change that describes the pcre deprecation is located here: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/PcreDeprecation
FESCo approval is located here: https://pagure.io/fesco/issue/2862

If your component has already ported to pcre2 or you don't Require/BuildRequire any pcre subpackage, feel free to close this Bugzilla.

Adding blocking relationship to BZ 2127507 (the Change tracker)

Comment 2 Ben Cotton 2023-02-07 14:55:30 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora Linux 38 development cycle.
Changing version to 38.

Comment 3 Jens Petersen 2024-01-08 08:59:12 UTC
I will try to have a look, anyway this is only needed by Haskell highlighting-kate, which is basically deprecated

Comment 4 Aoife Moloney 2024-02-15 22:55:26 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora Linux 40 development cycle.
Changing version to 40.

Comment 5 Jens Petersen 2025-03-10 11:12:13 UTC
I think this package is basically no longer needed so I could be retired if necessary

Comment 6 Lukas Javorsky 2025-03-10 13:38:15 UTC
Maybe to depracate [1] it first would be a better solution.

Comment 7 Lukas Javorsky 2025-03-10 13:38:48 UTC
But if you believe it's not used, retire it.
