Same problem here. In addition, compiling one's own XPI is totally nonobvious: my compilation fails due to mysterious g++ errors: /usr/bin/ld: nsEnigModule.o: relocation R_X86_64_PC32 against `NS_NewGenericModule2(nsModuleInfo const*, nsIModule**)' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC /usr/bin/ld: final link failed: Bad value This is a "visibility" problem. (re)building thunderbird with "ac_cv_visibility_pragma=no" is a workaround which solved this issue (allowing to build enigmail or to use the available xpi). Hope that's help. Related: bug 175451 Remi Collet (comment 2) has built an RPM of Thunderbird with Enigmail at http://remi.collet.free.fr/index.php?2006/12/24/269-thunderbird-with-enigmail-on-fc6-x86_64 - merci Remi! This bug also affects ppc and thunderbird 2.0.0.0 Regards I see this hasn't been addressed in a while. Enigmail is a good plugin that is certainly needed for those who don't wish to use Evolution. It would be nice if Fedora had enigmail and lightning, or at least worked with them. Fedora Core 6 is no longer supported, could you please reproduce this with the updated version of the currently supported distribution (Fedora 7, 8, or Rawhide)? If this issue turns out to still be reproducible, please let us know in this bug report. If after a month's time we have not heard back from you, we will have to close this bug as CANTFIX. Setting status to NEEDINFO, and awaiting information from the reporter. [This is mass-filed message to all open Fedora Core 6 bugs related to Xorg or Gecko.
