Use the following template to for the 'fedpkg update' request to submit an update for this issue as it contains the top-level parent bug(s) as well as this tracking bug. This will ensure that all associated bugs get updated when new packages are pushed to stable. ===== # bugfix, security, enhancement, newpackage (required) type=security # low, medium, high, urgent (required) severity=low # testing, stable request=testing # Bug numbers: 1234,9876 bugs=2185300,2185302 # Description of your update notes=Security fix for [PUT CVEs HERE] # Enable request automation based on the stable/unstable karma thresholds autokarma=True stable_karma=3 unstable_karma=-3 # Automatically close bugs when this marked as stable close_bugs=True # Suggest that users restart after update suggest_reboot=False ====== Additionally, you may opt to use the bodhi web interface to submit updates: https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/new This package is primarily a sagemath dependency. Upstream intends to incorporate the algorithm into sagemath rather than fixing the vulnerable command-line tool[1], so an upstream patch will not be forthcoming. In Fedora, the command-line tool needs to stay in the repositories until sagemath no longer requires it, at which point I can retire the package in Rawhide. I have not decided whether or not I will attempt a downstream-only patch to fix the insecure temporary file usage for stable releases. [1] https://github.com/sagemath/sage/pull/35419 Since sagemath was retired for F39, nothing depends on this package in Rawhide. Since sagemath 10.0 and later have removed the dependency on this package, retiring this package will not interfere with any hypothetical future effort to revive sagemath in Fedora. Therefore, I’m retiring this package in Rawhide. |
