Comment 2 Ben Beasley 2023-04-10 17:48:33 UTC
This package is primarily a sagemath dependency. Upstream intends to incorporate the algorithm into sagemath rather than fixing the vulnerable command-line tool[1], so an upstream patch will not be forthcoming.

In Fedora, the command-line tool needs to stay in the repositories until sagemath no longer requires it, at which point I can retire the package in Rawhide. I have not decided whether or not I will attempt a downstream-only patch to fix the insecure temporary file usage for stable releases.

Comment 3 Ben Beasley 2023-11-05 21:55:47 UTC
Since sagemath was retired for F39, nothing depends on this package in Rawhide.

Since sagemath 10.0 and later have removed the dependency on this package, retiring this package will not interfere with any hypothetical future effort to revive sagemath in Fedora.

Therefore, I’m retiring this package in Rawhide.
