Changing version to 39. This package has changed maintainer in Fedora. Reassigning to the new maintainer of this component. This package has been orphaned. You can pick it up at https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/spyder by clicking button "Take". If nobody picks it up, it will be retired and removed from a distribution. This package has changed maintainer in Fedora. Reassigning to the new maintainer of this component. This issue is due to missing sub-dependencies. Priscila: well, what that means is that qdarkstyle has not been rebuilt for Python 3.12. There are several problems here, actually. First of all, the version of spyder we're building is outdated; upstream is up to 5.4.4, which changes several of the dependency version ranges specified here. Second, spyder upstream still has a constraint on jedi version to be < 0.19.0, even though lsp (which is where spyder gets the dep from) has already bumped it to be < 0.20.0: https://github.com/python-lsp/python-lsp-server/commit/f33a93afc8c3a0f16751f9e1f6601a37967fd7df Third, several deps have not yet been rebuilt for Python 3.12: python-qdarkstyle , python-lsp-server and python-lsp-black. Filed https://github.com/spyder-ide/spyder/issues/21296 for the spyder jedi dependency bound issue. Jonathan, you may wish to pick up python-qdarkstyle , which Mukundan orphaned alongside this: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2220472 . Unfortunately, it depends on pyside2 which is also ftbfs on 3.12 - https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2220452 - and looks like a mess I don't want to deal with. The other dep chain - the lsp stuff - is similarly nightmarish. We would really want to bump python-lsp-server to the most recent upstream release, 1.7.4 (the one we have, 1.4.1, is ancient). I'd hope the most recent release has a decent chance of working with 3.12. But it has its own dependency problems: it needs a newer version of python-rope, which has added a new dependency itself - pytoolconfig - which is not currently packaged for Fedora. The lowest version of rope that lsp-server 1.7.4 will accept is 1.2.0, which already has the pytoolconfig dependecy. Again I don't feel up to tackling all of that right now. I would like to contribute to this troubleshooting, I have already done some similar at work, however I'm not a Fedora mantainer and I would need some guidance. We could work together on this. I picked up the python-qdarkstyle/python-qtsass/python-libsass dependency chain. I will probably also pick up python-helpdev, which is a python-qdarkstyle dependency (but could be patched out in a pinch). The fix for python-qdarkstyle was simply to drop PySide2 support in F39 and later until and unless it is fixed for Python 3.12. Spyder uses it wit PyQt5 anyway. I’m still working on tidying up the above packages and carefully getting them fully updated. > $ mock -r fedora-rawhide-x86_64 -i python3-spyder > ... > - nothing provides (python3.12dist(jedi) < 0.19~~ with python3.12dist(jedi) >= 0.17.2) needed by python3-spyder-5.3.1-8.fc39.noarch from fedora The package python-jedi was upgraded from 0.18.2 to 0.19.0 in Rawhide/F40 and F39, but Spyder upper-bounds the version of its dependency. This bound is still present in git master upstream, so upgrading the version of Spyder will not help. Adam raised the issue upstream in https://github.com/spyder-ide/spyder/issues/21296; a PR is needed. We can then loosen the bound downstream and reference the issue and PR. > - nothing provides (python3.12dist(python-lsp-server) < 1.5~~ with python3.12dist(python-lsp-server) >= 1.4.1) needed by python3-spyder-5.3.1-8.fc39.noarch from fedora > - nothing provides python3.12dist(python-lsp-black) >= 1.2 needed by python3-spyder-5.3.1-8.fc39.noarch from fedora The python-lsp-* packages are broken. Sandro is working on this. > - nothing provides (python3.12dist(qtconsole) < 5.4~~ with python3.12dist(qtconsole) >= 5.3) needed by python3-spyder-5.3.1-8.fc39.noarch from fedora The package python-qtconsole was upgraded from 5.3.2 to 5.4.4 in Rawhide/F40 (but not F39), but Spyder upper-bounds the version of its dependency. This can be fixed by upgrading Spyder to a 5.4.x series release. "Adam raised the issue upstream in https://github.com/spyder-ide/spyder/issues/21296; a PR is needed." Yeah, sorry, I never got around to sending the PR. "We can then loosen the bound downstream and reference the issue and PR." You might rather want to just backport the PR. The dependency is autogenerated from the sources, and I find it's easier to just fix the dependency specified in the sources than try to exclude it from or override the generator... The dependency is > autogenerated from the sources, and I find it's easier to just fix the > dependency specified in the sources than try to exclude it from or override > the generator... Right, I didn’t communicate very clearly, but I agree that applying a patch based on a PR or commit hash is preferable whenever it’s reasonably straightforward to do so. I’ll do the PR if I have a chance and nobody else gets to it first. This package is listed in https://pagure.io/releng/issue/11685 and it will be retired in 3 days if not at least ASSIGNED. As folks are clearly actively working on this, I'm gonna go ahead and mark it ASSIGNED so it doesn't get retired, that would make things more inconvenient. If problem still persists, please make note of it in this bug report. This is for F39, not Rawhide. Proposing for an FE under the FTI-gets-FE convention. oh, d'oh, misread. |
