Its possible that this is the problem ... https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/project/intel-wired-lan/patch/20240417190320.3159360-1-vitaly.lifshits@intel.com/ ...or perhaps this https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=218740 Reporting the same was observed with Fujitsu Lifebook U759 based on Intel platform, running 6.8.7-200.fc39.x86_64. Attach the ethernet cable -> hang. Some older kernels (used to) work just fine. May provide further details, but I suspect the proposed fix as reported might fix this. Same issue on a Lenovo ThinkPad P52s (LENOVO 20LCS0W800/20LCS0W800, BIOS N27ET53W (1.39 ) 03/19/2024). Hopefully the upstream patch is pushed to the stable kernel versions soon enough. Tested with rawhide 6..9.0rc5 and it isn't yet included. The proposed fix seems to work: https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1223109#c5 Took a bit before upstream picked it up. I have it queued for 6.8.10 for Fedora.
