Description of problem:

Updated to 2.6.19-1.2911.6.5.fc6 kernel.
Reboot.
I have no sound.
System > Administration > Soundcard Detection (which is needed way to often) lists:
 - Creative Labs SB Live! EMU10k1 (snd-emu10k1)
 - nVidia Corporation nForce2 AC97 Audio Controler (snd-intel8x0)

But neither of the sound cards have any PCM devices.

The System tab of the utility shows:
 - ALSA Driver version:   (blank)
 - ALSA Lib package(s):   alsa-lib-1.0.13-1.fc6
 - ALSA Utils package(s): alsa-utils-1.0.13-1.fc6

If I, as root, do:
 - modprobe soundcore
 - modprobe snd-intel8x0

And then restart the sound detection utility both of my sound cards now work again.

since no information has been lodged for over 30 days.
