As per jjramsey's bug report:

It looks like the fix has been merged but a release is still forthcoming.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Try to enable the workrave-gnome extension
Actual Results:  
The extension can't be enabled due to an incompatibility

Expected Results:  
The extension can be enabled and shows up in the system tray

https://github.com/rcaelers/workrave/releases/tag/v1_11_0_beta_16 was released, which provides the fix.

Until the package gets updated to the latest beta you can do the following as a workaround:
edit the shell-version array (adding the value "47") in the metadata.json file of the extension in /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions/workrave and restart gnome-shell.

The problem is still present. The metadata.json file hasn't been updated to include the Gnome 48 version.
