please build python-sgmllib3k in epel10

Comment 1 Jonathan Wright 2025-01-03 20:31:26 UTC
Will you be able to branch and build python-sgmllib3k in epel10?
I would be happy to be a co-maintainer if you do not wish
to build it on epel9 (FAS: jonathanspw).

Comment 2 Kevin Fenzi 2025-01-04 18:40:56 UTC
Ugh. I just wish feedparser would finally drop this.

this package is just a 2to3 scrape of the last version that was around before it was dropped by python upstream (now many years ago).

I suppose we could keep carrying it on, but it makes me very sad.

Let's see if we can come up with some other option before branching...

Comment 3 Jonathan Wright 2025-03-27 13:25:08 UTC
What are we thinking about branching this? feedparser upstream hasn't shown any movement on dropping it unfortunately.

The only stopgap I can really see is to basically bundle it within feedparser so we're at least not branching it. Currently this is blocking (through a chain) certbot which I'd like to have ready in EPEL10 prior to RHEL 10's GA.

Comment 4 Kevin Fenzi 2025-03-29 18:40:04 UTC
ok, ok. I guess we can do it.

I just hate it because:
* The upstream 'source' is now gone (at least the seperate source for the package, I suppose you can still extract it from old python).
* No one is really 'maintaining' it.
* The license I think was wrong upstream.

But alright, can unblock things. ;(
