Description Vaishnav.R 2025-05-29 09:53:30 UTC
Description of problem:
Randomly applications stop responding to mouse inputs tho the keyboard is still functional. (I believe this may only be happening to Xwayland applications, as i have only noticed this issue in KiCad (flatpak and fedora flatpak variant), Musicbee (application running via wine), but i have noticed this once happening in the header bar area of firefox

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

48.3-1.fc42.x86_64

How reproducible:
Using the application as is seems to trigger the issue and is especially problematic in kicad where the application doesnt function at all

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Opening the application
2. use the app and or switch to another window
3. it will suddenly stop accepting inputs via mouse

Actual results:
erroneous behaviour from the mouse where clicks and hovering of the cursor doesnt affect the applications at all
Expected results:
the application reacting to mouse button presses and mouse pointer hovering

This is probably related to this fedora discussion
https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/latest-fedora-update-broke-snap-and-flatpak-apps/154650/20

I was able to confirm the problem with some flatpak applications.

Upstream discussion appears to have located the specific commit and a fix as been merged upstream today.
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/merge_requests/4465

Mitigation for fedora users currently is to downgrade to 48.1-1.fc42 package

The bug is in the Mutter component, and the work on fixing the package is being tracked here:
