Patch for enabling socketserver feature none

Description Fritz Elfert 2025-09-07 12:11:01 UTC
Since building gvim for wayland, the x11-based clientserver functionality had been removed.

Maybe you guys haven't noticed: Since some time now, upstream has provided an alternative IPC method using unix sockets. This works nicely out of the box, *IF* enabled using the

--enable-socketserver

option at configure time.
So PLEASE rebuild enabling that option.

Thanks
 -Fritz

Reproducible: Always

Additional Information:
See attached patch for the spec file

Usage remark:
For using this new feature, gvim has to be invoked with --clientserver socket
e.g.:

gvim --clientserver socket --remote-tab-silent file1 file2 ...

Comment 2 Fritz Elfert 2025-09-09 13:23:23 UTC
Compared vim.spec file of the newer Fedora versions and they are all the same, therefore changing version to rawhide in order to hopefull get more attention.
Basically all current Fedora versions could benefit from this.
Also raising severity to high.
