Confirmed that with Fedora-KDE-Desktop-Live-43-20250928 build too. Neal said at the matrix room: "this is probably related to breeze deleting third-party icons" Created attachment 2107991 [details]
screenshot from the plasma welcome page with the problem
It happens on both the live session and the default installed system
Ticket opened upstream: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=510052 Proposed as a Freeze Exception for 43-final by Fedora user geraldosimiao using the blocker tracking app because: Proposing this as FE using the final criterion of basic app funcionality since it show right at the start on a live-session F43 KDE Desktop Edition and It creates a bad first impression for peopletrying Fedora KDE. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_43_Final_Release_Criteria#Default_application_functionality Upstream already know about this and have a fix for Plasma 6.5. Maybe they can backport it or we can use a patch. AGREED AcceptedFinalFreezeException Discussed at the 2025-09-29 (blocker / freeze exception) review meeting: This decision is accepted as a Freeze Exception due to the lack of understanding and appreciation for the artistic vision behind the grey square image. https://meetbot-raw.fedoraproject.org//blocker-review_matrix_fedoraproject-org/2025-09-29/f43-blocker-review.2025-09-29-16.03.txt Seems like Oliver backported the fix to 6.4.6 version https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=510052#c6 FEDORA-2025-cb01874efd (plasma-welcome-6.4.5-2.fc42) has been submitted as an update to Fedora 42. https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2025-cb01874efd FEDORA-EPEL-2025-874e5e0d79 (plasma-welcome-6.4.5-2.el10_1) has been submitted as an update to Fedora EPEL 10.1. https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-EPEL-2025-874e5e0d79 FEDORA-EPEL-2025-19b32b5198 (plasma-welcome-6.4.5-2.el10_2) has been submitted as an update to Fedora EPEL 10.2. https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-EPEL-2025-19b32b5198 FEDORA-EPEL-2025-19b32b5198 (plasma-welcome-6.4.5-2.el10_2) has been pushed to the Fedora EPEL 10.2 stable repository.
