Description Peter Robinson 2026-02-17 11:57:52 UTC
The bluetoothctl command is broken in 5.86.

EG a basic 'bluetoothctl list' returns nothing when it should return the local controller where it now returns nothing.

On 5.85 I get:

# bluetoothctl list
Controller 11:22:33:44:55:66 fedora.local [default]
#

On 5.86 I get:
# bluetoothctl list
#

Same on f44

Comment 2 Bastien Nocera 2026-02-19 11:33:46 UTC
A fix is still being discussed upstream. In the meanwhile, you can use:
echo list | bluetoothctl

Comment 6 Fedora Blocker Bugs Application 2026-02-28 07:23:28 UTC
Proposed as a Freeze Exception for 44-beta by Fedora user pbrobinson using the blocker tracking app because:

 Bluetooth broken on a bunch of devices/usecases, not sure if it's a FE or blocker.

Comment 10 Lukas Ruzicka (Red Hat) 2026-03-05 11:34:57 UTC
$ bluetoothctl --version
bluetoothctl: 5.86

$ bluetoothctl list
Controller 28:0C:50:52:4E:F4 sestnactka [default]

I believe that it is now working as the bug report suggests. Therefore I consider this to be verified.

Comment 11 Lukas Ruzicka (Red Hat) 2026-03-05 11:35:33 UTC
$ rpm -q bluez
