Description of problem:
kernel does not finish booting but resets the machine.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
kernel-2.6.23-0.169.rc5.git1.fc8.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Watch grub time out.

  
Actual results:
Screen flickers, BIOS logo shows up again.

Expected results:
"linux version ..."

Additional info:
kernel-2.6.23-0.164.rc5.fc8 works on the same machine, smolt profile:
