Description Derek Hildreth 2008-04-07 15:52:30 UTC
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9b5) Gecko/2008040216 Fedora/3.0-0.52.beta5.fc9 Firefox/3.0b5

Description of problem:
When I use the User Switcher Applet to quickly log in and out of different accounts, the screen goes black and I have to hard boot. I cannot restart X with Ctrl+Alt+Backspace. I cannot use Ctrl+Alt+Del to send the reboot signal. I cannot press the power key to send shutdown signal. I cannot use Ctrl+Alt+F1 to get CLI. I'm simply stuck with a hard boot option and hold down my power button to forcedly power down the computer.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use the User Switcher Applet to log into the root account from the current one.
2. Use the User Switcher Applet again to try and log back into the original account.
3. Get black screen. Hard boot.

Actual Results:
Joe User -> root -> Joe User = black, locked screen.

Expected Results:
To simply be presented with my original account with desktop, settings, and all.

What kind of video card do you have? Can you attach your Xorg.0.log and xorg.conf?

Video card is Intel 945GM.

I have attached a few different file, including the ones requested. If there
are any others, please let me know.

As of April 12, the reported issue doesn't occur.

I just finished testing and everything worked as it should. It just occurred to
me that it may have something to do with compiz? I'll try it with and without
compiz. Unfortunately, right now, my compiz is broke.
