20080618 does not work with amd780g, but 20080605 and 20080613 worked quite well amd780g uses the Radeon HD 3200 Created attachment 309807 [details]
Xorg log (20080618) doesn't work
Created attachment 309808 [details]
Xorg log (20080613) worked OK
Cute. The Xorg.log diff does look similar to https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=451349 aka https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16347 even though the chips are different. I'll ask upstream what they think about it. There were just 5 commits between 20080613 and 20080618: http://gitweb.freedesktop.org/?p=xorg/driver/xf86-video-radeonhd;a=summary A "git bisect" to find the offending commit should not take very long, then (3 tests), if you are up to it. Otherwise let's wait for comments from upstream. You could also try whether Option "UnverifiedFeatures" "No" helps. No problem, added that option and it now seems to work just like 20080605 and 20080613 now. xorg-x11-drv-radeonhd-1.2.1-3.2.20080622git.fc9 has been submitted as an update for Fedora 9 Display during system shutdown not right; screen is filled with static characters, cannot see shutdown progress. Screenshot follows. Created attachment 310001 [details]

Are comment #10 and comment #11 with xorg-x11-drv-radeonhd-1.2.1-3.2.20080622git.fc9? With or without Option "UnverifiedFeatures" "No" ? Using xorg-x11-drv-radeonhd-1.2.1-3.2.20080622git.fc9 Same behavior with and without Option "UnverifiedFeatures" "No" xorg-x11-drv-radeonhd-1.2.1-3.2.20080622git.fc9 has been pushed to the Fedora 9 testing repository. If problems still persist, please make note of it in this bug report. If you want to test the update, you can install it with su -c 'yum --enablerepo=updates-testing update xorg-x11-drv-radeonhd'. You can provide feedback for this update here: http://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/F9/FEDORA-2008-5672 No, that behaviour is certainly not acceptable. Upstream is aware of the issue. Could you please test xorg-x11-drv-radeonhd-1.2.1-3.4.20080713git.fc9? http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=712767 xorg-x11-drv-radeonhd-1.2.1-3.4.20080713git.fc9 has been submitted as an update for Fedora 9 In testing xorg-x11-drv-radeonhd-1.2.1-3.4.20080713git.fc9.i386.rpm, I have found the behaviour described in comment 10 persists. When I change current runlevel from 5 to 3 or when I initiate a system shutdown from X, I get the screen shown in attachment id=310001, which is quite useless. I have not experienced any other problems with 20080713 as of now, however. xorg-x11-drv-radeonhd-1.2.1-3.4.20080713git.fc9 has been pushed to the Fedora 9 testing repository. If problems still persist, please make note of it in this bug report. If you want to test the update, you can install it with su -c 'yum --enablerepo=updates-testing update xorg-x11-drv-radeonhd'. You can provide feedback for this update here: http://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/F9/FEDORA-2008-6426 This message is a reminder that Fedora 9 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 9. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '9'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 9's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 9 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version, please add a comment here and someone will do it for you. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping Fedora 9 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2009-07-10. Fedora 9 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed. |
