Comment 5 Hans Ulrich Niedermann 2008-06-19 08:57:30 UTC
Cute. The Xorg.log diff does look similar to
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=451349 aka
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16347 even though the chips are
different.

I'll ask upstream what they think about it.

Comment 6 Hans Ulrich Niedermann 2008-06-19 09:02:18 UTC
There were just 5 commits between 20080613 and 20080618:
   http://gitweb.freedesktop.org/?p=xorg/driver/xf86-video-radeonhd;a=summary

A "git bisect" to find the offending commit should not take very long, then (3
tests), if you are up to it. Otherwise let's wait for comments from upstream.

Comment 7 Hans Ulrich Niedermann 2008-06-19 19:00:14 UTC
You could also try whether
   Option "UnverifiedFeatures" "No"
helps.

Comment 8 ryck 2008-06-19 22:08:04 UTC
No problem, added that option and it now seems to work just like 20080605 and
20080613 now.

Display during system shutdown not right; screen is filled with static
characters, cannot see shutdown progress. Screenshot follows.

Are comment #10 and comment #11 with
xorg-x11-drv-radeonhd-1.2.1-3.2.20080622git.fc9?

With or without
   Option "UnverifiedFeatures" "No"
?

Comment 13 ryck 2008-06-23 16:13:37 UTC
Using xorg-x11-drv-radeonhd-1.2.1-3.2.20080622git.fc9

Comment 19 ryck 2008-07-13 20:32:11 UTC
In testing xorg-x11-drv-radeonhd-1.2.1-3.4.20080713git.fc9.i386.rpm, I have
found the behaviour described in comment 10 persists.

When I change current runlevel from 5 to 3 or when I initiate a system shutdown
from X, I get the screen shown in attachment id=310001, which is quite useless.

I have not experienced any other problems with 20080713 as of now, however.

Comment 21 Bug Zapper 2009-06-10 01:41:41 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 9 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 9. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '9'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 9's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 9 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this
bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version,
please add a comment here and someone will do it for you.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping

Comment 22 Bug Zapper 2009-07-15 08:25:39 UTC
Fedora 9 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2009-07-10. Fedora 9 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
