Description Linus Walleij 2008-08-10 21:15:14 UTC
Echoing bug 458388 I will try to also migrate Amarok to use
libmtp 0.3.0 before smashing in libmtp 0.3.0 into rawhide.
libmtp 0.3.0 support many new devices and have many bugfixes
and we better just move F10 to use it.

I've been told that Amarok 2.0 will use libmtp 0.3.0 exclusively,
but I guess that won't be in time for F10, so let's have a
patched Amarok current until 2.0 arrives.

Patching up Rhythmbox and upstreaming it was easy enough, I want
to help out with Amarok too, will add refs to upstream etc to this
bug as we progress.

Realized today that the Rawhide version of Amarok doesn't
even link to libmtp, perhaps because it requires libmtp 0.3.0 :-P

Anyway, I will import libmtp 0.3.0 soonish since it doesn't
break Amarok anyway.

Confirmed, I'll fix that BR, and consider this NOTABUG. :)

Comment 3 Rex Dieter 2008-08-15 19:18:37 UTC
looking closer, the build scripts seem to check for libmtp, and there's some code there, but it (amarok2) doesn't seem to actually use it (yet). I'll keep an eye on it.

Comment 4 Linus Walleij 2008-08-22 23:15:55 UTC
OK libmtp 0.3.0 is in rawhide now anyway.
