Description of problem:
The package list of e.g. fedora is really long. It is not really handleable in a efficient manner in a listbox. It would be nicer to have 

1.) a tree-widget or 
2.) two combos with the first and the second character (like they organize their fedora yum-packages on some web servers)
3.) a listbox like now, a textfield and a search button (you can enter a search string in the entry field, press return and the list is only filled with the items which sattisfy the search. => I guess this could probably be the best alternative

1. open https://bugzilla.redhat.com
2. enter a new bug for fedora
3. look at the package list
4. recover from shock
  
Actual results:
not very userfriendly

Expected results:
Package selection is easier

This is an issue and will need to be addressed as the package list will continue to grow undoubtedly.

Hi Juergen, 

I think that with the current interface of enter_bug.cgi when you file a bug, if you go to the component list box and type the first letters or the full name of the component you are looking for it will actually filter it out for you and you wouldn't need to go through all the list to find what you want, so it works as a search box for component name. Please try that and let us know if it works good for you, also there is a new bugzilla package getting pushed live for bugzilla this Thursday that will result in some performance enhancements when entering a bug against large component list products like fedora.
