Description of problem:
after some time of using upper gnome panel freezes 

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
$ rpm -q gnome-panel
gnome-panel-2.16.1-7.el5
gnome-panel-2.16.1-7.el5


How reproducible:
sometime

Steps to Reproduce:
1. use gnome for a few hours
2.
3.
  
Actual results:
gnome panel freezes , cannot click to 'system', 'application', properties with right button ... , but tray icons works 

Expected results:
works, don't freeze

i am using latest nightbuild

The panel hasn't been updated in some time, so it's not likely a panel problem.  Can you (when this happens), do

1) install the debuginfo packages for the panel
2) gdb attach $(/sbin/pidof gnome-panel)
3) t a a bt full

and attach the output?

This bug/component is not included in scope for RHEL-5.11.0 which is the last RHEL5 minor release. This Bugzilla will soon be CLOSED as WONTFIX (at the end of RHEL5.11 development phase (Apr 22, 2014)).
