To clarify... When I say that I get the message saying shutdown has been initiated I mean that I get a broadcast message from root saying that system is going down for halt now. After that, all of the VC's stop responding so it's a little difficult to tell what's actually hung. What version of initscripts? Latest available via yum: initscripts-8.94-1.x86_64 Please grab 8.95-1 from today's rawhide. That seems to work. Assuming that gets pushed into the repo soon, this can probably be closed.
