Description Andrew Jones 2009-05-06 08:46:26 UTC
Description of problem: Fedora 11 Preview DVD: "Basic Driver" install fails after selecting "Install anyway"

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Fedora-11-Preview-i386-DVD

How reproducible: 100% (Three attempts before submitting bug)

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Select "Install with basic driver" at startup menu
2. Follow prompts and click on "Install anyway"

Actual results:
After selecting "Install Anyway" (This is all in text mode by the way - I did glimpse a message saying Xserver failed to start) the following dialog is displayed.

Notes:
Save to local disk is not a selectable option

The exception details were typed on another computer while looking at the screen of the failed computer. Apologies for any typos, but I have double-checked for correctness.

Unfortunately I am using Wifi and Network manager does not ask me what SSID/passphrase to use. Let me know if you can get any more useful information if I connect to an ethernet cable and submit the bug directly.

Expected results:
Installation process proceeds to its natural conclusion

Additional info:
I tried the "Install with basic driver" option just to see what happens. I had already successfully installed F11 preview from the live CD

I thought the problem may have been related to bug 496760 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=496760 , as earlier I had been unable to install F11 preview over an existing F11 Beta until I deleted all existing partitions with a Live CD.

However this bug still occurred when attempting to install on a disk with no partitions.

This should be fixed in anaconda-11.5.0.48-1.
