You cannot currently install from the livecd to a single partition, correct. This is due to two reasons: (1) grub does not currently support booting from ext4, only ext3. (2) The livecd installer simply copies over the contents of the CD to the filesystem. Since the filesystem on the CD is ext4, it requires that your root partition also be ext4. So if you want to install onto a single partition (or use a non-ext4 / for any other reason), then you must install from either the network install ISO (boot.iso) or from the DVD. |
