Description Mike McLean 2009-10-09 21:17:12 UTC
Haven't got a solid reproducer for this yet, but I'm seeing situations where if I change the retention policy for a single folder, then pulling up the folder properties for a different folder will show the wrong retention data. A full restart seems to get things back into shape, but still kind of scary to see aggressive compaction config on a folder that should not have it.

I'll try to get a more solid reproducer.

Yes, this looks really weird. Cursor is jumping between the folders like a crazy.

I think the underlying cause of this issue is larger than just the retention config setting. I've been seeing a number of folder settings leak from folder to folder, including the various sorting options. I've also seen folders get confused on what messages are really in there to the point that I had to rebuild the folder index before I could get to messages again (and please note that when this happens, any time you delete a message, you might be deleting the one you intend to delete or another message entirely, so this is certainly a serious issue). Just in general, with lots of folders across multiple IMAP accounts, I see a number of strange issues with all of the folder settings that are not 100% identical across all folders.

I believe the retention config leak may have caused thunderbird to delete messages in some of my imap folders that I had intended to keep archived.

In other words, this bug is potentially very destructive.
