This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 12 development cycle. Changing version to '12'. More information and reason for this action is here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping Thank you for the bug report. I can confirm the issue with gdm-2.28.1-24.fc12. GDM uses an alphabetical order and does not pop frequently used accounts up. --- Fedora Bugzappers volunteer triage team https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers This request contradicts the one in bug 458162. I am the person who filed 458162 I guess the problem in part is that I really was not looking for alphabetic list, but that would seem logical. More inportant is that the login list doesn't give away security information. If the users listed are the ones who login the most this is information that is not necessarily something we want everyone to know. Actually I prefer going back to the old version if where you had to enter a user id and password to get on the machine. GDM used to have the flexibility to handle different configurations like this, but no longer does. This is an major set backwards. GDM is still in need of the ability to be customized to the needs of the site. This "new improved" version is a almost total step backwards several versions almost to the beginning of the project. I have yet to see even one advantage to the new system. This message is a reminder that Fedora 12 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 12. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '12'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 12's end of life.
