Comment 2 Robinson Maureira 2009-11-23 23:01:28 UTC
The kernel was booted using "nomodeset", if I boot without it, X hangs before getting the GDM screen.

Hi Robinson.

Thanks for the bug report. We have reviewed the information you have provided above, and there is some additional information we require that will be helpful in our diagnosis of this issue.

1) Please could you attach:
     * your X server config file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf, if available)
     * output of the dmesg command,
     * And the server log file (/var/log/Xorg.*.log) to the bug report as individual uncompressed file attachments using the bugzilla file attachment link below.

We will review this issue again once you've had a chance to attach this information.

A last thing that I would like you to confirm us:

Do you know if a specific action triggered this crash?
If yes could you run as root the following: "debuginfo-install mesa*"
And try to trigger again this crash so that the next backtrace will be more complete (if it crashs again, manually attach the BT to this ticket, or eventually let abrt create a new one, and I'll try to catch it.

By the way Robinson, I would suggest you to open a separate ticket in order to report your specific issue with KMS, so that our maintainers can track this issue.

Thanks in advance.

Comment 8 Robinson Maureira 2009-11-24 01:10:52 UTC
The specific action was enabling "Desktop Effects" after booting with nomodeset.

I'm installing the missing debuginfo files right now to reproduce the crash and post the results in some minutes.

Thanks.

backtrace after installing mesa debuginfo

Here is the new backtrace. It's ok? Or I need to reboot (restart X) to trigger the crash again?

Hi Robinson.

It is just perfect now, we have the missing symbols.
This is the same as for ticket 539789

Many again thanks to you for your collaboration.
