I've using Fedora for 2 months and this never happened before. GNOME and GDM version are 2.28.2 and graphic driver are open ATi/Radeon. Nothing worked to fix this - deleting .gconf and rest of GNOME configuration files.

p.s: sorry for bad English - I'm from Poland.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): GNOME 2.28.2 and GDM 2.28.2

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Just set transparency panels
2.
3.

Additional info: many people have this strange bug. See this topic: http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?p=1318167

I am using Fedora 12 Gnome updated to its latest. The same problem appeared on my Dell Latitude D810 (ATI Mobility Radeon X600) on January 14, 2010.

I also see problems with gnome-panel and transparency. It shows with compiz and with standard transparency.

I am using a ati radeon card with the open source driver.

If I right click on the panel, choose Properties, then the Background tab, select None (use system theme), the corrupted images disappears. If Solid color is selected again, the image becomes corrupted. If I toggle between these two options, corrupted data are different each time. Sometimes one can see a portion of the Firefox menu - the program I have just used.

Identical problem visible on my F12 x64 (fully up2date) system.
- Card is a radeon 4350 (sapphire)
- I'm using the radeon drivers (not radeonHD)
- I have kms on.
- Default compositing enabled (ie, 'desktop effects' is enabled, I'm not sure if this is really compiz or not..)
- mesa-dri-drivers-experimental is installed..

I see corruption of transparent backgrounds on both upper and lower panels upon startup. Redrawing of some items (applet icons/statuses, system load monitor) works properly, but other items fail to get redrawn properly; in particular the active/inactive window selector (lower bar) can fail to update it's display properly as the active/inactive window list changes.

In fact.. it's rather like:
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26076
Except my card has a RV710 gpu and not RV600.
