Does it crash and give you the opportunity to save the traceback to a floppy? If so, could you attach this traceback? Created attachment 39627 [details]
The file is the core dump of the installation process
Can you try booting with 'linux ide=nodma'? Does that help? All drives attached in my computer are DMA access capable. That does'nt work!! (The Computer is an Intel Pentium III 600 MHz with 256 MB of RAM. With a 40 GB Hard Disk, and a Sony DVD.) Oh, I see what the problem is. From looking far down in the traceback, I see the following message: Instalacisn de shadow-utils. unpacking of archive failed on file /etc/login.defs;3bffa710: cpio: MD5 sum mismatch This means that the installation of shadow-utils failed. This package contains the /usr/sbin/usermod command, so when anaconda runs usermod in the post-install script, the program crashes because it can't find the command. I think that you have a bad cd since it appears that the shadow-utils RPM is corrupt on the cd. Please reopen if you see this behavior with different cdroms. |
