This sounds almost exactly like the problem I'm wrestling with at present (post- install hangs in text mode, and crashes with a traceback similar to the above in graphic mode): in each case, the problem seems to be anaconda trying to run kudzu. Unfortunately, when it tries to run it, /usr/sbin/kudzu doesn't exist: it's at /mnt/sysimage/usr/sbin/kudzu. I rebuilt stage2.img with an updated packages.py to reflect this: however, this also fails - because kudzu tries to run /usr/sbin/mouseconfig (and this is hardwired into kudzu with no option to change the path!) I'm seriously wondering about hacking kudzu to allow the path to this utility to be changed as a command-line argument or environment variable. This is almost always due to a bad CDROM. Did you burn this CD yourself? Yes I did burn the ISO image to CD Rom but if I don't prune the install and just let it install everything for the server install it installs fine each time. Yes, this is because kudzu is not getting installed when you are seeing the crash. So, when anaconda tries to run the post-install script, it tries to run kudzu, which isn't there. This would explain why the full install works. You must have gone into the individual package selection and unselected kudzu. However, anaconda should not allow packages in Base to be removed. katzj, has this been fixed in cvs yet? Actually, this problem is dupe of bug #55505. Once bug 55505 is resolved, which will prevent packages like kudzu from being unselected, then this bug will not occur. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 55505 *** |
