Caius, is this fixed? do let me know so i can do the remaining work This one was never touched as I have never had time on this. describing problem of hinting for 8 digit
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 14 development cycle. Changing version to '14'. More information and reason for this action is here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping can we get steps to reproduce this bug? These are contained in the bug report, but to make it clear: 1. Install the font rendering libraries with the patented technologies enabled (using the repository from infinality.net, config provided) 2. Use the .fonts.conf provided; 2. Install Liberation fonts and set them as the system default typeface, set its size 8 points. thanks, i will test and see if anything improved on f14 Pravin, any updates on this? not yet. next month i will go through this bug. Hi Misha and Caius while digging on it, i found that when we enable auto-hinting at 8pt size this problem is happening. $ftstring -r 96 -m 6б8 ppem 200 /usr/share/fonts/liberation/LiberationSans-Regular.ttf press up arrow and make point size 8pt, press f for autohint on-off, observ behaviour ftstring is part of freetype-demos package from Fedora 15 onwards we are using bytecode interpreter hinting, so i think problem should not occur now. can you check this once? can you test this with the latest version of liberation fonts 2.00.1? to me again this happens only when we enable auto-hinting but we are not using it for liberation font in Fedora ping This message is a reminder that Fedora 16 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 16. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '16'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 16's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 16 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping hmm, since we switched backed to liberation 1.0 this again need some work.
