What version of glibc do you have?

Did you hibernate your computer before?

Yes, I think booted my netbook from hibernated state.

happened without my intervention. I think it crashed during boot. I had a major
boot failure that evening. It seemed that every other program crashed.

the system up. 

This is my installation of Fedora on Atom N270 CPU, all partitions use ext4. Hope it helps.
