Description Jinxin Zheng 2010-08-16 02:59:42 UTC
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #624334 +++

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
libguestfs-1.2.7-1.23.el6.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
$ guestfish -a test.img
...
><fs> blockdev-getbsz /dev/sda
4096
><fs> blockdev-setbsz /dev/sda 2048
><fs> blockdev-getbsz /dev/sda
4096

Expected results:
blockdev-getbsz should return the latest block size we just set, or the blockdev-setbsz should return an error if the block size is not supported.

Comment 1 Richard W.M. Jones 2010-11-24 09:07:37 UTC
Deferring to 6.2. We don't understand why this happens
(likely to be a kernel issue if anything) and we have no
upstream fix for it at present.

Comment 3 Richard W.M. Jones 2011-06-10 09:14:01 UTC
Deferring to 6.3, since no customer or user has raised the issue.

It's still highly likely that this is a kernel bug.

Comment 6 Richard W.M. Jones 2012-02-06 13:24:28 UTC
I don't think we have any kind of solution for this
bug yet, so I am deferring it again to 6.4.

Comment 7 RHEL Program Management 2012-07-10 05:51:55 UTC
This request was not resolved in time for the current release.
Red Hat invites you to ask your support representative to
propose this request, if still desired, for consideration in
the next release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Comment 8 RHEL Program Management 2012-07-11 00:01:22 UTC
This request was erroneously removed from consideration in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4, which is currently under development. This request will be evaluated for inclusion in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4.

Comment 9 Richard W.M. Jones 2012-08-10 13:16:28 UTC
Still don't believe there is any kernel solution
for this (it's a kernel bug, nothing to do with libguestfs).
Deferring to RHEL 6.5.

Comment 11 Richard W.M. Jones 2013-06-08 12:16:02 UTC
I'm closing this as WONTFIX since:

 - No customer reported it.

 - It's in a very rarely used API.

 - It's trivial to work around it.

 - It's a kernel bug.

 - There is no fix for it.

light on this issue.

Comment 13 Richard W.M. Jones 2013-10-08 08:37:42 UTC
Reopening. We should deprecate these calls and document
that they never worked.

Comment 16 bfan 2014-07-02 05:21:21 UTC
Verified it by checking documentation.

version: libguestfs-1.20.11-8.el6.x86_64
