Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because
the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.
1. Feature Overview:
Feature Id: [67054]
a. Name of Feature: [6.1 FEAT] HBA API Completion - library part
b. Feature Description
This feature extends the previous version of libzfcphbaapi (2.0). libzfcphbaapi is an implementation
of the standard HBA API (see t11.org) for the System z FCP host bus adapter. There have been two
major additions in the following areas:
??? FCP pass-through support: it is possible to construct CT (Common Transport for Generic Services,
see document "Fibre Channel Generic Services" available at t11.org) and ELS (Extended Link Services,
see document "Fibre Channel Link Services" available at t11.org) frames in the userspace and send
them into the SAN now. Please note that while it is possible to construct any CT frame, the ELS
requests are predefined. Currently the only supported ELS request is "Request Node Identification Data".
??? event support: events occuring in the SAN can be retrieved now.
This is the library part. There is a dependent kernel part which is tracked by different feature
request.

Hello John,
this will be part of HBA API library and be provided as a backport to existing
RHEL 6.0 version.
It is upstream with libzfcphbaapi 2.1
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/linux390/zfcp-hbaapi-2.1.html
Unfortunately through the mirroring this information got lost. I have updated
the component here directly.
I have created a tracker for zfcp hba api requests (kernel+library):
Bug 633890 - Feature Tracker - HBA API Completition

Petr, Dan,
I think the libzfcphbaapi lib is a subpackage of the s390utils, so adding Dan to CC. Dan, this feature bug is about upgrading the lib to version 2.1 which is available on the developerWorks website.
Thanks and regards,
Hendrik
This enhancement request was evaluated by the full Red Hat Enterprise Linux
team for inclusion in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux minor release. As a
result of this evaluation, Red Hat has tentatively approved inclusion of
this feature in the next Red Hat Enterprise Linux Update minor release.
While it is a goal to include this enhancement in the next minor release
of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, the enhancement is not yet committed for
inclusion in the next minor release pending the next phase of actual
code integration and successful Red Hat and partner testing.

Just got confirmation per mail from John
- Red Hat approved to enhance the version of the library from 2.0 to 2.1
Since the only diff from libzfcphbaapi version 2.0 to 2.1 is the code for the R 6.1 feature request it is useless to backport that code
