Description Travers Carter 2010-09-25 02:33:57 UTC
Description of problem:
Anaconda hangs at the "examining device" screen with no feedback and no disk activity or CPU load. The problem may be related to ntfs partitions. After switching to a console and running top I noticed that a mount.ntfs process was running (not using any CPU or stuck in 'D' though). Killing the mount.ntfs process appears to allow the installation to proceed normally

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
14.17.4

How reproducible:
Unsure

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create an NTFS partition and add it to /etc/fstab (F13 x86_64)
2. Run pre-upgrade
3. Reboot and choose the upgrade to F14 option

Actual results:
Anaconda hangs at the 'examining devices" screem

Expected results:
Installation process should proceed normally, OR the mount process should time out with an error

Additional info:
The last entry in /tmp/anaconda.log when it was hung was
DEBUG anaconda: isys.py:mount()- going to mount /dev/sda4 on /mnt/sysimage/media/data as ntfs with options default

Please attach the log files from /tmp to this bug report so we can see what's going on. Most importantly are /tmp/anaconda.log, /tmp/storage.log, and /tmp/syslog. Thanks.

Nevermind - I found this bug is a duplicate of another, and it has logs attached.
