Cause: .config and .local folders were listed in the list of ignored directories
Consequence: some settings could've been lost
Fix: mentioned entries have been removed from the list
Result: configuration is being saved properly

hmmm, Two trashes, I believe ~/.local/share/Trash and ~/.Trash .
~/.local/share/evolution should not be an issue on EL5.

Right, I was only checking my modern F15 system, app storage may change from version to version. This request was evaluated by Red Hat Product Management for inclusion in the current release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Because the affected component is not scheduled to be updated in the current release, Red Hat is unfortunately unable to address this request at this time.
