Description Oliver Henshaw 2010-12-16 16:35:44 UTC
Description of problem:

I booted the f15 rawhide kde image into runlevel 3 (in kvm) but the login prompt on tty1 has no cursor. I can type, but editing inside a line is awkward without the cursor indicating position. tty2 etc. do have a cursor as expected.
tty1 has no cursor when booted in runlevel 3. but tty2 etc. do.

If I dismiss the plymouth splash screen before the "plymouthd: could not log bootup: Address already in use" message (see bug #654762) I do see a cursor on tty1.

If I boot without rhgb then tty1 does have a cursor but the tty1 prompt is inside a inverted square (white background, black text).

I've also booted the same image on real machines (AMD 890GX and Nvidia 7600 Go) and do not have this problem.

So the cursor seems to be missing only with kvm.

Symptons persist with kde-x86_64-20110305.01.iso:

systemd-18.1.fc15.x86_64
unitl-linux-2.19-1.fc15.x86_64

Comment 3 Oliver Henshaw 2011-03-15 21:33:01 UTC
Appears to be fixed in kde-x86_64-20110315.01.iso

Not sure what packaged fixed this - could be any of the below, all of which were updated since the 20110305 image?

plymouth-0.8.4-0.20110304.1.fc15.x86_64
systemd-20-1.fc15.x86_64
util-linux-2.19-3.fc15.x86_64

Could the fix be a side effect of the fix for bug #681167?
