Description Paul 2010-12-27 10:01:11 UTC
I install fedora 14 then add my hp2600n printer. Printing works perfectly. I then install the recommended updates. After this point printing fails with the message "hplip.plugin" I have reproduced this on three machines.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install Fedora 14 as clean install onto computer.
2.Add hp2600n printer using the gui
3.Print perfectly
4.allow updates to install
5.Printer now fails to print and gives the error message "hplip.plugin"

Actual results: Printer fails to print

Expected results: Printer prints

Additional info: Have installed on three machines. (Clean installs) and problem always appears. If i install the foo2zjs driver the printer will work again without error.

HP 2600n requires proprietary plugin to work with hplip.
You need to install it with the 'hp-plugin' program.
Please also read bug #604947.

If this doesn't help, try to print something with printing troubleshooter
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Printing/Debugging#Printing_troubleshooter
and attach the output to this bug report.

Hi,
I am not sure that is the problem. I was able to print perfectly until i installed the fedora updates

Comment 3 Tim Waugh 2011-01-17 11:54:24 UTC
Please try reverting to the as-shipped versions of these packages:

hplip*
hpijs*
libsane-hpaio*

like so:

yum --disablerepo=updates downgrade 'hplip*' 'hpijs*' 'libsane-hpaio*'

Are you able to print again?
