Thanks for the bug report. We have reviewed the information you have provided above, and there is some additional information we require that will be helpful in our diagnosis of this issue. a) do you have fully upgraded Rawhide otherwise? b) could you attach as please screenshot of the Firefox with a menu pulled down, c) is there anything interesting on stderr of firefox when run from gnome-terminal? d) please attach also ~/.xsession-errors. We will review this issue again once you've had a chance to attach this information. Thanks in advance. Hello Matej, No, I didn't upgrade to Rawhide. I was just running the live CD found here: http://alt.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/stage/15-Alpha.TC2/Live/ I will look for the other info later. Created attachment 479261 [details]

OK, I have to admit defeat ... what's wrong with the attached screenshot? Could you provide screenshot of how it should like in your opinion (probably the same menu from F14), please? Is it just because we have switched to a different basic font? (cantarell http://abattis.org/cantarell/, see also http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/Gnome3) We will review this issue again once you've had a chance to attach this information. Thanks in advance. Matej, thanks for clarifying. Yes, it would be because of that change of font. It does seem less readable but I guess that is subjective. If it was the intention to change to this font, then this is not a bug. Refiling the bug to the cantarell component. Also, try to upgrade to fonts from this scratch build http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=2875754 We are trying hard to make fonts better. In my humble opinion fonts are poorly rendered, because by default they are rendered with "medium" or "strong" hinting and without rgba antialiasing. when I installed Fedora 15 Alpha, the very first thing I did was to look for the way to change font rendering settings. I've managed to do so for applications, though the whole Gnome-shell still ignores them. Also, this Cantarell font isn't great either, "Droid Sans" is much better (my humble opinion though). forgot to add, here is a bug report I've reported upstream: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=645433 I guess this is a duplicate of bug 676253. Guys, FWIW, the only really negative comments from readers attached to today's Ars Technica article on GNOME 3 relate to the default appearance of the fonts: http://arstechnica.com/open-source/reviews/2011/04/ars-reviews-gnome-30-a-shiny-new-ornament-for-your-linux-lawn.ars?comments=1#comments-bar (In reply to comment #9) > I guess this is a duplicate of bug 676253. I think so, yes. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 676253 *** |
