This request was evaluated by Red Hat Product Management for inclusion in the current release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Because the affected component is not scheduled to be updated in the current release, Red Hat is unfortunately unable to address this request at this time. Red Hat invites you to ask your support representative to propose this request, if appropriate and relevant, in the next release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. If you would like it considered as an exception in the current release, please ask your support representative. I can confirm the observed behavior. I've looked into this together with upstream and found out that the issue has to be fixed in gtk, as the GtkFileChooser methods used for adding the "Select File Type" expander to the chooser hide all details of how this widget is added to the file chooser, i.e. we can't tweak it to shrink the dialog when being collapsed. Changing component to gtk2. Michael Natterer (of GIMP upstream) submitted a patch to gtk which, if incorporated, would allow specifying the desired behavior for the "Select File Type" expander: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=643805 This request was evaluated by Red Hat Product Management for inclusion in the current release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
