Created attachment 483610 [details]
system log from boot until X reboot

NOTE:
This has been filed upstream with gnome:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=644456

Description of problem:
On boot, gdm partially starts and just shows the wallpaper. The mouse cursor does show up and move but no login prompt is shown.

Upon inspection of the system log, I found a crash backtrace after the line: gdm-simple-greeter[1290]: GLib-GObject-CRITICAL: g_object_ref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed#012aborting...

After rebooting the X server with <ctl><alt><backspace>, gdm came up without problems.

System log from boot until after X reboot is attached

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
gdm-2.91.6-8.fc15.x86_64

How reproducible:
Has happened to me once, others have seen the same symptoms at least once

Steps to Reproduce:
1. boot F15 live image
2.
3.

Actual results:
Wallpaper shows up, no login panel

Expected results:
Login panel should show up normally

Updating from upstream bug:
> The problem here is the icon size of 51. The icon is available, but only in
size 48. Ray, did you not fix this already ?

> I did fix this. I think Adam used an old GDM in the test day.

The upstream bug has been closed with the assertion that it was fixed, but no version information was given for the time of the fix.

Will retest with newest GDM to see if I can reproduce but I assume that this bug can be closed.
