Does anything else show this? or only the system tray?

Do you have composite enabled ? (prefs->window manager tweaks->advanced)

Comment 2 Horst H. von Brand 2011-03-17 00:59:37 UTC
Only the system tray. And it happened both times I booted (albeit quite different messup). I see some glitches, very rarely, when scrolling windows. It looks like only alternate lines of the text get erased/overwritten (no screenshot, sorry).

Due to another bug (# 684907) I just removed the intel_ips module and rebooted (now with acceleration enabled), and this time the tray is OK.

Preferences -> Window manager tweaks -> Compositor is off.

Comment 3 Kevin Fenzi 2011-03-17 02:05:08 UTC
huh. Should we chalk this up to a nouveau/intel_ips bug then?

Looks like it. I saw compositing problems (e.g. bug 684069) on and off, but I haven't seen any since I disabled intel_ips.

ok. I'll go ahead and close this now, feel free to re-open or add info if anything further comes up on it.
