Description Miroslav Franc 2011-04-13 12:04:54 UTC
Description of problem:
screen won't clear terminal after itself upon exit, happens only in gnome-terminal, not for example in xterm or konsole

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
gnome-terminal-2.31.3-6.el6

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open gnome-terminal
2. run screen
3. run dmesg
4. type Control+D

Actual results:
Terminal is not cleared when screen terminates. Cursor is on the top followed by fragments of text from dmesg output

Expected results:
Terminal is cleared, nothing is after cursor.

Additional info:
happens in fc14 as well (gnome-terminal-2.32.0-1.fc14)

Comment 3 Tomáš Bžatek 2012-07-11 14:46:15 UTC
Hmm, works for me with gnome-terminal-2.32.1 and vte-0.28.2, will check on other systems.

Comment 4 Miroslav Franc 2012-07-11 15:07:58 UTC
Since this is a bug for RHEL6, I suggest to check on latest RHEL6. :)

It's still broken.

gnome-terminal-2.31.3-7.el6.i686
vte-0.25.1-7.el6.i686

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 is in the Production 3 Phase. During the Production 3 Phase, Critical impact Security Advisories (RHSAs) and selected Urgent Priority Bug Fix Advisories (RHBAs) may be released as they become available.

The official life cycle policy can be reviewed here:

http://redhat.com/rhel/lifecycle

This issue does not meet the inclusion criteria for the Production 3 Phase and will be marked as CLOSED/WONTFIX. If this remains a critical requirement, please contact Red Hat Customer Support to request a re-evaluation of the issue, citing a clear business justification. Note that a strong business justification will be required for re-evaluation. Red Hat Customer Support can be contacted via the Red Hat Customer Portal at the following URL:
